Course Description

This course will focus on raster-based image creation and manipulation exploring critical concepts inherent to graphic design, focusing on the technical aspects of pixel-based graphics. Students will gain a thorough understanding of resolution, including DPI and PPI, and their impact on image quality for print and screens. The course will also cover color profiles and their significance for accurate color reproduction. Additionally, students will analyze various file formats, evaluating their advantages and best-use scenarios. Through theoretical insights and practical applications, participants will develop the expertise needed to create high-quality raster graphics that are both visually appealing and technically proficient for both screens and printed design. Prereq.: None. 3 s.h.
