Course Description

4853. Financial Analysis. This course is designed to address the increasing demand for students to think about financial statement analysis from a practical and global financial perspective. Topics include financial reporting standards and quality, interpretation and analysis of financial statements and information, various financial analysis techniques and practical applications. Prereq.: "C" or better in FIN 3720 and 2.5 overall GPA. 3 s.h.

This course equips students with the practical skills and global mindset essential for rigorous financial statement analysis in today’s interconnected markets. Moving beyond textbook theory, the curriculum emphasizes real-world application through the critical evaluation of financial reporting standards, information quality, and disclosure practices. Students will master a comprehensive suite of analytical techniques, including profitability and ratio analysis, adjustment and restatement of financial statements, cash flow analysis, the market impact of accounting choices, earnings quality, intangibles, credit analysis, and credit ratings, and financial statement forecasting.
