Course Description

3735. Jazz Methods. Designed to prepare students for jazz teaching relative to instruments and voice. Components include fundamental techniques and approaches for directing small and large jazz ensembles, teaching of basic improvisation skills, rhythms section/soloist interaction, and stylistic interpretation. Students will demonstrate basic performance proficiencies in jazz on their applied instruments and/or voices. Meets 2 hours per week. Prereq.: MUTC 1531 or MUTC 1531N or permission of the instructor. 1 s.h.
