Sentinel U Virtual Clinical Learning Platform Policy

All students enrolled in the Youngstown State University Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Nurse Practitioner programs are required to purchase and maintain access to the designated Sentinel U Virtual Client Encounters® – Readiness Essentials: Advanced® platform.

Sentinel U is an integrated educational resource used throughout the Nurse Practitioner curriculum to support the development of advanced clinical reasoning, diagnostic decision-making, advanced physical assessment, pharmacology, pathophysiology, and evidence-based practice competencies. The platform is incorporated into didactic and clinical courses as a required component of the curriculum.

Students are responsible for:

· Purchasing the required Sentinel U product prior to the deadline established by the program or course faculty.

· Maintaining an active Sentinel U account throughout enrollment in the Nurse Practitioner program.

· Completing all required Sentinel U assignments, virtual client encounters, and learning activities by the deadlines established in each course.

· Ensuring access to appropriate technology and internet connectivity necessary to utilize the platform.

The Sentinel U subscription is a one-time program purchase that provides access throughout the student's enrollment in the Nurse Practitioner program. This purchase is good for 3 years.

Failure to purchase or maintain access to Sentinel U does not exempt students from completing required course assignments and may adversely affect course progression and successful completion of program requirements.

Questions regarding Sentinel U access, purchasing, or technical issues should be directed to the course faculty, Program Coordinator, or Sentinel U Technical Support, as appropriate.

Sentinel U Info

Sentinel U is utilized in weekly blackboard modules. After completing the learning materials, you will complete the assigned Sentinel U case study activities.

Sentinel U is an essential component of this course and provides opportunities to apply your knowledge through interactive patient scenarios. Detailed instructions for each assignment will be provided within the Sentinel U assignment for that week.

As you work through each case, pay close attention to the patient assessment, clinical reasoning, and decision-making process. These activities are designed to prepare you for both clinical practice and your weekly quizzes.

Important: Sentinel U assignments must be completed according to the weekly module schedule. Because each case is integrated with that week's learning activities and course objectives, you may not work ahead. Complete assignments only during their assigned availability window and follow all module instructions in the order presented. Working ahead may result in assignments not being accepted or negatively impacting your grade. Staying on pace with the course ensures you are applying the appropriate content and receiving the full educational benefit of each learning activity.
