The course readings are subject to change in the event of extenuating circumstances, research developments, current events, and/or to ensure better learning.

It is your responsibility to acquire any method books or pieces I assign in a timely manner, and to always bring your music to lessons. Since everyone is at a different level of experience, these materials will vary for each student. I take care in only having you purchase materials you will use. All students are to keep detailed files containing all handouts, lesson notes, and repertoire lists. Include some blank music paper and blank pages of lined paper for lesson notes. If you take a picture of something on the board during the lesson, copy it down into your notebook after the lesson. During and following each lesson please write down key points for later study and review.

Recommended Texts:

  • Progressive Repertoire - George Vance

  • Modern Walking Bass Technique - Mike Richmond

  • Atomic Habits - James Clear

  • The War of Art - Steven Pressfield

  • Free Play - Stephen Nachmanovitch
