Course Description

1500. Introduction to Sociology. An introduction to the science of human societies and groups: analysis of the structures, functions, and processes that bring about changes in societies, groups, communities, classes, and institutions. 3 s.h.

You may take the First Exam twice. It is an open book/open notes exam. Your highest score will count. The Exam is due at 11:59 pm September 27. The exam covers Textbook Chapters 1, 6, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17, the Syllabus, and all class notes to date including this week’s reading assignment.

The Final Exam is comprehensive. It covers all Instructor’s Notes for the course, all class presentations, and Sociology in Our Times Chapters, 18, 19, and 20. The previously assigned chapters in Sociology in Our Times are not on the final exam.
