M.Ed. Special Education, Mild through Intensive Disabilities, Kent State University

B.S. Elementary Education, Grades 1 through 8, Kent State University

Mrs James has spent over 30 years dedicated to providing and supporting educational programs that foster positive outcomes for all students.  Some of her accomplishments include being a member of the professional team that designed the integrated preschool program that is in use in the State of Ohio; the Kent State University representative  at the International Conference  on Education at the State Department where educational issues and needs were the focus; a speaker/presenter at National Conferences for TASH on supporting individuals with disabilities in the school and community in Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco.  Mrs. James also developed and presented workshops for professional and staff development for Kent State University and Cleveland Municipal Schools.  She has continued her passion in education for the past 9 years with her continued work at Youngstown State University.

Course Description

4869. Student Teaching Seminar for Special Education. Student Teaching seminar provides an opportunity to study relevant topics related to teaching and learning, application of professional and ethical practice and OSTP standards, research and theory, knowledge of learners, and reflection on practice. Completion of edTPA is required. CR/NC. Prereq.: TELS Upper Division Status; Admission to Student Teaching in Special Education. Coreq.: SPED 4839 and/or SPED 4849. 2 s.h.
