Course Description

6910. Leadership for the 21st-Century. This course will provide students with the knowledge and skills to provide leadership, developing the skills needed to become agents of change. The student will learn to lead and create classrooms, schools, and community organization where innovation, creativity, and technology is used to support learning environments that are engaging, supportive, and transformational. 3 s.h.

Leadership Theory – knowledge and understanding • Explain a leader as change agent. • Identify the standards to guide change.
• Review the TED talks on leadership • Discussion Board: What kind of Leadership style(s) are needed to create change for 21st Century learners and educators? • Assignment – Written essay defining who you are a leader, leadership style and self-efficacy. Create an Overview of the Standards to be met to guide change.

8/31 • Chapter 2; Supplemental Reading – Module 2 21st Century Teachers and Students. • Identifying the other change agents in our schools and the impact of technology on learning. • Understanding the needs of teachers and students in a digital age
• Discussion: Using the findings from the written analysis; compare your environments with each other. What have you learned? Who are your resources? • Assignment –Written analysis: Interview, analyze and summarize you of school and community environment. (Know who are they and what is important) • Create a flip grid/greenscreen/etc. for one class of students (state the grade level) and post.

• Discussion: Using the posted articles and summary: Respond to three articles and use and cite your articles for resources • Assignments - Create a podcast for internet safety. Identify relevant articles on internet safety, cyber bullying, digital literacy, etc. , summarize and post them.

• Discussions: Post the Teacher Tube for all to view and respond and Post the blog and all must respond on topic • Assignments: Select a social media app, create, and post a blog on an approved topic. Create a Teacher Tube (this is your own creation for teachers) and post.
