Course Description

3740. Clinical Practice 2. Application of basic and advanced respiratory care modalities in the clinical hospital setting. Prereq.: RESC 2699. 3 s.h.

RESPIRATORY CARE 3740 IS A 3 SEMESTER-HOUR COURSE DESIGNED TO FURTHER DEVELOP THE RESPIRATORY SKILLS ACQUIRED DURING CLINICAL PRACTICE I. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED BY PROVIDING ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE IN ADULT GENERAL CARE AND CRITICAL CARE.  THIS COURSE IS ALSO DESIGNED TO INCREASE STUDENT AWARENESS ALONG THE CONTINUUM OF CARE WITH CLINICAL ROTATIONS IN HOME CARE, PULMONARY REHABILITATION AND POLYSOMNOGRAPHY.  THE INTRODUCTION OF THE AFOREMENTIONED SPECIALTY ROTATIONS WILL EXPOSE THE STUDENTS TO THE EXPANDED ROLE OF RESPIRATORY CARE PRACTITIONERS IN CLINICAL AREAS OUTSIDE OF THE ACUTE CARE SETTING.
