Course Description
3773. Digital Photography Studio. This course continues the examination of contemporary digital photography issues, techniques, media, and concept. Students explore digital photography in terms of advanced image manipulation in Adobe Photoshop, lighting technique, various camera formats, and large-scale printing. Directed readings, writings, and group discussions. May be repeated up to 12 semester hours. Prereq.: C or better in ART 2674 or permission of the instructor. 3 s.h.

| 8/31 | Location Assignments: Throughout the semester we will be going to locations and photographing as a class and the following class meeting will be a critique of those assignments. The techniques we work with can be developed out into larger projects. Techniques we will be working with for the location shoots: Themes will be about Ways of Seeing. 1) STILLNESS + QUIET. 2) THE UNSEEN FRAME(FRAMING). 3) SHADOWS AND REFLECTIONS. 4) LAYERING 5) POINTS OF INTEREST we will plan a location shoot for the following week. All location shoots will be due the following class meeting. Discuss Project 1 assignment. In depth examination of a topic relevant to todays issues. |

| 9/14 | History and Aesthetics paper. Students will research and write a 3-5 page paper on a photographer. A list will be provided and each student will be assigned one photographer. Students will present the paper and an oral presentation with images. Location shoot: Shadows and Reflections |
