Certificate Description

Public health has grown to encompass many disciplines and to focus on disease prevention in communities and across healthcare settings.The Graduate Certificate in Public Health Research provides foundational skills and knowledge in conducting health research with local communities.

Admission Requirements

Applicants are required to have an undergraduate grade-point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Applicants with a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 2.99-2.75 will be required to submit an official report of the Graduate Record Examination (General Test) scores for admission consideration.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Apply epidemiological methods to the breadth of settings and situations in public health practice
  2. Select quantitative and qualitative data collection methods appropriate for a given public health context
  3. Analyze quantitative and qualitative data using biostatistics, informatics, computer-based programming and software, as appropriate
  4. Interpret results of data analysis for public health research, policy or practice
  5. Apply behavioral theories/models in the development of community health promotion and intervention programs as well as select research programs
  6. Select methods to evaluate public health programs
  7. Demonstrate the ability to design, implement and execute a research protocol.
